What is in our Homeschool?

Well, we went to the Texas Homeschool Conference on the 16th and decided to to Konos! We have already started and we are very excited about this literature based hands on unit study. Anyway, here is an overview of our homeschool this year....

Konos in a Box: Obedience -Language Arts, Reading,Writing, Science, History, Bible
Math:Horizons Math
Handwriting: Italics by Getty Dubay
Reading: Ordinary Parents Guide to Reading & Steck Vaughn Phonics K & C
Read Alouds: Ambleside OnlineMusic: Recorder
Spanish: Phrase a day
Music: Recorder

As I do Konos I am starting to understand how and why it works so well. Everything revolves around the current theme for instance we are learning about light & authority and I was amazed to see how our language arts tied in so wonderfully to our study. We are studying kinds of sentences and specifically imperative sentences have come alive for the kids. They love to get up and do and in fact the other day Parker (Kindergarten) said to Wayne on their way out the chicken coop we need to get our incandescent light! The literature is top notch and I already owned much of it we are overall very happy with unit study so far but we will keep you updated.

We start school around 8:45 and cover the 3 R's + and break for lunch at about 11:30 and then finish up our Konos & have music practice after lunch. Here is a 'copy & paste of our posted schedule:

Ephesians 5:15-17

I have to run a schedule or I would not get anything done. We are recalling trying to get the most out of every day.

FYI my digital camera died so there won't be many pictures for a while!
